50 Lies

You Already Belong—You Don’t Have to Prove It

September 26, 20251 min read

You know the feeling.
You walk into a space and immediately scan:
Do I fit here? Am I enough here? What version of me is safest?

You shape-shift.
You perform.
You tone yourself down or turn yourself up.

Why?
Because somewhere inside, there’s this old story:
I have to prove I belong.

Maybe you were the only one.
The different one.
The one whose skin, story, or sensitivity set you apart.

So you learned to audition.
To chase belonging by becoming what others found palatable.

But here’s the truth:
Belonging isn’t something you earn—it’s something you claim.

You were never meant to fit someone else’s mold.
You were meant to belong as
you.

Ask yourself:

  • Where did I start believing I needed permission to exist?

  • How do I edit myself to gain acceptance?

  • What would it feel like to belong without performing?

You don’t need a stamp of approval.
You are already enough.
And your place at the table doesn’t need to be earned—it’s already yours.
